Will it perform like real Hardwood?


Engineered wood flooring is partially made from real wood. The top layer of engineered wood flooring, also known as the wear layer, is made of real hardwood, which gives it the same look and feel as solid hardwood flooring. However, the underlying layers of engineered wood flooring are made of high-quality plywood or fiberboard, which are engineered products. These layers are designed to provide additional stability, strength, and resistance to moisture, making engineered wood flooring more durable than solid hardwood flooring in many cases. Overall, while engineered wood flooring is not 100% real wood, it does contain a significant amount of real hardwood and can be a great alternative to solid hardwood flooring in many applications.

Can Engineered Floors be refinished eventually when they wear like regular hardwood floors?

If your engineered hardwood floor has a thick top layer of hardwood, it can be sanded and refinished multiple times, just like solid hardwood flooring. However, if the top layer is thin, has a hand-scraped finish, or beveled edges, then refinishing is likely not an option.

What are the most important factor to consider when choosing Engineered Hardwood flooring?

Cost is typically tied to quality, so more budget options may look the same as more expensive products, but will not hold up over time. The thickness of the hardwood layer can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally ranges from 0.6mm to 6mm, the thicker the layer, the better the quality. Choose the highest quality you can afford for best results.

Can I buy the Engineered Floor and have you install it?
