When is it time to refinish?

Even the most loved and well cared for floors need a refresh eventually. Heres a few reasons you should refinish your hardwood flooring:

1

  • Staining/Water Damage

Accidents happen, especially when you have pets and kids, or an appliance that caused flooding. Often stains that appear to have ruined your floor can be sanded out, or the boards replaced invisibly. Don't cover it with carpet, renew and refinish and enjoy!

2

  • Board Gaps & Creaking

Though your finish may still be intact, age or settling of your home can cause boards to separate, allowing dirt, water, and allergens to build up in the cracks. Filling in and refinshing will protect your floor from minor spills and give it long lasting wear.

3

  • Deep scratches or missing finish

If you notice a defiite change in finish sheen and color in different areas of your floor, it's time for a sand and refinish. Temporary solutions or bottled refinishers are short lived, and don't fully seal your floor against future spills...so wear and tear really take their toll. Once you've had your old, tired floor refinshed to its orignial beauty, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!

4

  • You hate the color

Just because your home came with a terrible stain color doesn't mean you need to live with it! Or maybe the previous owners did a amatuer DIY finish, or even painted your floor...we can fix it. Don't give up on your hardwood, it can be the vision you desire!

5

  • When adding to an adjacent floor

Are you adding hardwood to an adjecent room? Now is the time to refresh your existing hardwood, so the color and finish is consistent from room to room. We're already there installing your new floor, so it's easy and economical to do it all at once!

Will it be dusty?

We have the answers.

I've heard of dustless or dust-free refinishing. Do you do that?

Our equipment has the latest filtration and bagging technology to minimize dust escaping during the process. We don't want to breath it in either! We thoroughly clean, vacuum, and wipe down the area we refinish, leaving your room(s) cleaner than when we arrived. Typically the amount of dust you may experience in your home is similar to leaving your windows open on a breezy summer day.

My floor is stained really dark, it it ruined for a lighter stain?

In most cases, dark stains can be removed easily with sanding, bringing the wood back to it's natural state and ready for any color you wish...even natural!

I have some severely damaged, warped, or pet stained boards. Can those be refinished?

It depends on how damaged the boards are, and how severe the staining. In a lot of cases, the boards can be sanded and saved. If not, we can replace just the affected boards with new ones that match, for an invisible repair. The entire room will need to be refinished for best results.

I should have refinished years ago!

That's what almost all of our sand and refinish customers say when we finish a job for them. Misrepresented as messy, expensive, and more trouble than just installing carpet, once you've experienced a professional floor refresh you'll never consider other options again.

Plus, its great for the environment! Reuse, repair, and recycle!
